Trade Policy and Market Access

Cassidy Levy Kent represents the interests of clients before governments by developing legal and policy arguments to promote fair trade policy. This includes preparation of issue papers for executive and legislative officials, appearing on behalf of clients at hearings, and ongoing representation at various levels of government.

CLK lawyers have a wealth of experience advising clients on reducing and eliminating barriers to overseas markets, helping them to navigate administrative, political, and legal barriers. We have helped numerous clients avoid discriminatory treatment for their goods and services by overcoming technical and licensing restrictions.

In the area of regulation of foreign direct investment, our lawyers have provided clients with a full range of advice regarding bilateral and multilateral investment treaties, including Chapter 11 of the NAFTA, as well as reviews by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). We have also advised governments at national and sub-national levels on issues of liability and litigation strategy in investment arbitrations.
