Hugh Lee’s practice focuses on trade remedies, dispute settlement under trade agreements, and investor-state dispute settlement, among other trade law related matters such as treaty negotiations, customs and export-import controls. Mr. Lee joined CLK in 2011 as a summer student and after eight years with the firm expanded his experience by joining the World Trade Organization. During his tenure at the WTO, Mr. Lee assisted the Appellate Body as a dispute settlement lawyer at the Appellate Body Secretariat and the Negotiating Group on Rules in the fisheries subsidies negotiations. Since his return to CLK, he has represented clients before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal and dispute settlement panels constituted under Canada’s trade agreements. Mr. Lee is well known throughout the Canadian trade bar and has been recognized as a Rising Star by Legal 500.
Susana Lee’s practice focuses on trade remedies, customs issues, export controls, and economic sanctions. Ms. Lee joined CLK as a summer student in 2014. She has represented foreign exporters and governments, Canadian importers, and domestic producers before the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, the Federal Courts, and the Canada Border Services Agency. Ms. Lee is a certified customs specialist and an active member of the legal community. She is currently serving as Chair of the Canadian Bar Association, International Law Section, where she has held a number of positions over the past seven years. She is also the Co-Vice-President of Programming at the American Bar Association, International Law Section. Ms. Lee is recognized by Chambers Canada as an Up-and-coming individual, by Best Lawyers as Ones to Watch in Canada, and by Legal 500 as a Rising Star in the area of International Trade Law.
